Heating doesn't have to be reactive

Real estate heating systems have traditionally responded in retrospect. This means that the heat increases only when it has already become cold, or decreases only when it has already become warm. The result is unnecessarily large temperature variances, complaints from tenants and residents, and higher energy consumption.

Algeno is based on a data-driven model of the property's thermal properties with weather forecasts, combined with predictive control that plans the heat supply 48 hours ahead in time. By combining a unique model of each property with high-resolution weather forecasts, the heating is adjusted before the indoor climate has time to be affected.

Safe with Fallback

Should communication against the cloud service be disrupted, the property's existing control system automatically reverts to its default local settings (DUC/PLC logic). Control resumes automatically when the connection is restored.

How Algeno works

A digital twin and predictive control create a stable indoor climate at the lowest possible heating cost.

1. A unique model is created for each building

All properties are different. Our AI creates a unique, data-driven model for each item.

Construction, insulation, windows, and usage patterns affect a building's thermal inertia. Algenos AI automatically creates a unique mathematical model for each connected property, based on measured data from existing sensors describing how the building responds to:

  • Weather changes
  • Internal heat loads
  • Time variations
  • Historical Patterns

The result: The steering is adapted to the unique characteristics of your building. The model is continuously updated and does not require manual calibration.

2. The model plans 48 hours ahead

Heating is planned in advance -- not as a reaction to conditions that already prevail.

Each property model is combined with weather forecasts for the next 48 hours. Algeno's algorithm continuously calculates an optimal control plan: how much heat to supply, when and at what rate. The system acts proactively and ensures that the heat adapts before you as a property owner or your residents notice a change in temperature.

The result: A more stable indoor climate with fewer oscillations and a lower average energy consumption, without compromising comfort.

3. Continuous optimization against multiple cost factors

The control plan optimizes not only energy consumption, but also cost.

The governance takes into account several cost drivers in parallel:

  • Total energy use (kWh)
  • Actual energy prices
  • Power peaks (kW) from the district heating tariff

The system is actively working to smooth power peaks, which is a major source of cost reductions in networks with power-based charges. This means that you get the desired indoor climate lowest possible heating cost.

Works with and integrates with what you already use

Algeno is a cloud-based service that integrates with API to BMS and SCADA systems. No new hardware, no locally installed servers and no changes to exisisting control systems needed.

The open communication infrastructure, in which the property owner sends and receives data from Algeno via an API, makes it easy and straightforward to scale the service to more properties. There are no specific hardware requirements for the sub-centers, and you can use any vendor for your control systems.
