HOW ALGENO WORKS
Algeno is a hardware-independent solution that optimizes the heat supply of properties by combining the building's own data with external forecasts. The result is a more stable indoor climate throughout the property portfolio, regardless of size.


Real estate heating systems have traditionally responded in retrospect. This means that the heat increases only when it has already become cold, or decreases only when it has already become warm. The result is unnecessarily large temperature variances, complaints from tenants and residents, and higher energy consumption.
Algeno is based on a data-driven model of the property's thermal properties with weather forecasts, combined with predictive control that plans the heat supply 48 hours ahead in time. By combining a unique model of each property with high-resolution weather forecasts, the heating is adjusted before the indoor climate has time to be affected.
Real-time data is collected for all connected properties and is used for model adaptation, learning, monitoring and follow-up. All communication takes place via the property owner's own API, which gives the property owner their own disposal and full control. Individual sensor values in the property as well as external data such as weather forecasts, energy prices and other external factors are collected at regular intervals.
Data-driven models based on AI are adapted to each individual heating system to describe the properties and behaviors of the building. All models are fully data-driven and automated and require no information regarding the material or structure of the buildings. The AI models are used both for control of heating systems but also for monitoring, reporting and anomaly detection.
The optimization of heat management is based on Model-based Prediction Control (MPC). The AI models act as digital twins to predict property behaviors and control heating systems based on specified conditions and goals. It takes weather changes, predicted behaviour and other external factors into account.
The entire process — from model building to day-to-day control — is automated. Data is retrieved from the property's existing systems via API, and control takes place without the operations staff having to make manual settings for each property. It makes it possible to manage large real estate stocks in a scalable manner while maintaining precision in the control.
Algeno is a cloud-based service that integrates via API against BMS and SCADA systems. No new hardware, no locally installed servers and no replacement of existing control systems required. The open communication infrastructure where the property owner delivers and receives data from Algeno through an API makes scaling up the service to more properties smooth and easy to implement. There are no specific hardware requirements for the subcenters and you can use optional suppliers for your control systems.

Operations personnel maintain full visibility into what the system is doing through the web application. Manual override is always possible, and you maintain full control over the property.
Should communication against the cloud service be disrupted, the property's existing control system automatically reverts to its default local settings (DUC/PLC logic). Control resumes automatically when the connection is restored.
All data is owned by the property owner and is available through Algeno's REST API. We use your data to drive and improve the maintenance of your properties — not for anything else.
All that is required is a stable internet connection; bandwidth requirements are minimal as we only send optimized measurement data.
