Yes. You can always pause control of individual systems directly in Algeno Monitor without affecting other properties in the portfolio.
The building's existing control system automatically reverts to its local default settings (DUC/PLC logic). Control resumes automatically once the connection is restored. No manual action is required.
No. Algeno communicates with your existing systems via API and sends offset signals to the sub-control center. Your control systems and local DUC logic remain in place and are not affected.
No. Algeno integrates with your existing infrastructure via API. No new control systems, no new hardware, and no locally installed servers are required.
Algeno has been in operation since 2016, has established clients with multi-year contracts, and is on a clear path to growth. We avoid making promises we can’t keep—but we’d be happy to discuss our history, our clients, and our business model in a meeting.
No. Algeno is vendor-neutral and communicates via open APIs. You own your data and can cancel the service without affecting the properties’ existing control systems.
Algeno communicates via an encrypted HTTPS API and has no direct access to the property’s internal network. All data is stored within the EU in accordance with the GDPR. Your IT department can review our technical documentation and security architecture—we are transparent about how the integration works.
The control begins to optimize immediately after start-up. Clear patterns in energy performance and indoor climate are normally visible within the first few weeks of operation.
Algeno is vendor-neutral and adapts to the systems already in place. The only technical requirement for the sub-control panel is that it can withstand outdoor weather conditions and has a watchdog function for fallback. We’ll review the requirements during an initial meeting. You can read more about how we integrate with your properties here.
It depends on how well you meet the technical requirements — in particular, existing integration, API access and donor coverage. We will go over this in an initial meeting and give a realistic assessment based on your specific portfolio.
No. Algeno is brand-independent. The only requirement for the sub-controller is that it supports external setpoint adjustment (offset signal) and has a watchdog function for fallback to the local standard curve.
Algeno is a comprehensive heating management service that includes the AI platform, technical onboarding, user training, a dedicated contact person, and regular operational meetings. The software is part of the package, not the entire package.
Algeno's service contributes to reduced energy consumption and reduced climate footprint, and provides continuous data on energy performance per property. It facilitates follow-up against energy targets and provides a fact-based basis for energy reporting.
To use our service, you need to have indoor sensors installed in the building. These sensors are used to collect temperature data, which forms the basis for our control and optimization systems.
As a property owner, you own and have full control over both the system and all data — both input and output.
The No. We are hardware independent. This means that you own and choose your own technical infrastructure, while our solution can be integrated with existing systems.
The more sensors, the better the control! To get an accurate picture of the temperature distribution in the building, reference sensors need to be placed in several different locations. As a general guideline, we recommend that approximately 30% of the building be covered by temperature sensors.
Yes. Our AI is trained for a few weeks before it is activated. During the training period, the system is controlled by an advanced PID controller to ensure stable operation.
No. The PID controller we use during the training period is at least as effective as your existing control system.
If communication is lost, the property will continue to be controlled in accordance with local regulations, ensuring stable operation until communication is restored.
Energy savings vary from property to property and depend, among other things, on the energy efficiency measures that have already been implemented. On average, you can expect savings of about 5–10% across a property portfolio.
Yes. Our technology is built to easily scale up and manage large real estate portfolios.
Algeno’s control system is transparent—you can monitor control signals, offset values, and energy output in real time. We hold regular operational meetings where we jointly review performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
Yes. Algeno Monitor provides real-time access to energy performance, system status, and indoor climate data for each property. The data is available via Algeno’s REST API for export to your own reporting systems.
Yes. Algeno’s architecture is designed for efficient scalability and works for property portfolios of all sizes. We have clients with a single property as well as those with thousands of apartments.
Algeno is compatible with the most common types of hydronic heating systems and is brand-independent. The specific requirements depend on the property’s existing control system and sensor coverage—we’ll go over this in an initial meeting.
No. Algeno integrates via API with your existing BMS and SCADA systems. No new hardware or control systems are required.
Yes—often more relevant. Investments in the building envelope, window replacements, or adjustments improve the conditions for control, and Algeno’s models automatically adapt to the new conditions. Energy efficiency measures reinforce one another.
This depends on the properties’ current control systems and operating conditions. A common result is that a more stable indoor climate allows for a reduction in the average temperature, with each degree resulting in approximately a 5% savings on heating costs over an entire heating season. Exact results vary, and we avoid promising specific percentages without knowing your specific conditions.
The time it takes to get started depends on the systems you currently have in place. In some cases, customers have been up and running as early as one day after signing the contract, but typically the setup process takes about 1–2 weeks.
