Algeno's energy solution covers more than just effective heat optimization. In Bodø kommune, the web application turned into a tool for error detection, and helped uncover a faulty valve that probably hadn't worked since it was installed.

Since spring 2026, Algeno runs six public properties and schools in Bodø kommune.
The building automation staff regularly monitor how the buildings are responding to Algeno’s recommendations in the web application. They have been actively involved in this work and have been quick to implement measures in the buildings to create the best possible conditions for building management.
Their way of working would soon give them an unexpected bonus.

The first property was connected in November 2025, and Bodö kommune started to get aquainted with the heat optimization soon after. An additional five properties were ready for integration with Algeno in March 2026. One of these properties was an elementary school that accomodates about 450 students and teachers. The building is heated by water-based geothermal heating and has four radiatior circuits.
After starting the optimization, Bodö Kommune soon noticed that one of the circuits didn't act like the others. The supply temperature was wrong time and time again - either higher or lower than Algeno's recommendation. This was clearly visible in Algeno's web application.
They investigated the problem during summer, and a visit to the property showed that a valve in the circuit didn't work properly.
Interestingly enough, the error had most likely been there since installation, without anyone realizing. After fixing the valve, the indoor climate was much more stable.
There still hasn't been a full heating season which means that it's too early to talk about results connected to energy and indoor climate. However, we can already see that Algeno's service can be a great tool for error detection.
Energy results will show after an evaluation of the heating season.

Through Algeno’s web application, we gained early insight into the fact that one of the heating circuits was behaving differently from the others. This allowed us to investigate further and identify a valve malfunction that had likely been present for a long time. This experience shows that the solution not only contributes to optimization but also provides valuable support in troubleshooting and monitoring technical systems.
