Algeno's third newsletter

Algeno recently attended Allmännyttan’s climate and energy event in Halmstad. Naturally, much of the discussion centered on the availability of electricity and which energy sources will dominate in the long term.

I recently attended the Public Housing Sector’s Climate and Energy Summit in Halmstad. Naturally, much of the discussion centered on electricity supply and which energy sources will dominate in the long term.‍

There was also a strong focus on reuse in new construction. Among the projects recognized during the event was Ronnebyhus, which won for deciding to completely renovate a building instead of the initial plan to demolish and rebuild. Retaining the existing concrete resulted in significantly lower environmental impact and a faster return on investment.

From Algeno’s perspective, the most interesting part was one of the presentations given by Uddevallahem. They believed that control systems should be modular and view regulation as a complete puzzle, where AI is one piece of the puzzle. And that AI does not replace humans. Computers and humans excel at different things: computers are good at repetitive tasks and can perform many calculations simultaneously, while humans are creative and possess good judgment. The magic happens in the combination of the two. This is entirely in line with Algeno’s philosophy. AI should not replace humans, but rather be the operations technician’s best friend.‍

Now, some news that made me happy. Klimatinitiativet för allmännyttan This entails a goal of reducing energy consumption by 30 percent between 2007 and 2030. At the end of last year, the reduction stood at 21.2 percent, which means we are right on track. This could be interpreted as having picked the low-hanging fruit first, and now we have to make a greater effort. Or it could be that some have taken the lead and achieved significant reductions, while others haven’t even started. I think it’s a bit of both.

Sincerely,

Per

Helsingborgshem aims for better control

Helsingborgshem is working to streamline its operations and property management. As part of these efficiency efforts, Helsingborgshem is conducting a pilot project in collaboration with Algeno.

The pilot project evaluates Algeno’s web application and AI-optimized heating control.

“The web application provides us, who work in operations, with support in our daily work that allows us to be more proactive. With AI optimization, heating control also becomes proactive; the goal is to reduce heating costs while creating a consistent and predictable indoor climate for our tenants,” says Joel Sandblom, Head of Operations at Helsingborgshem.

The pilot project is in full swing and will be evaluated after the heating season ends; so far, Joel Sandblom is pleased with the results.

The maintenance technician's best friend

In Algeno’s web application, those who manage AI-controlled properties can quickly gain insights and learnings about their properties. For large property portfolios, Algeno’s service makes it easy to identify properties that deviate in any way and require manual intervention.

“Algeno has just launched a new version of the web application that makes it even easier to monitor and configure the properties’ heating systems,” says Emil Gustavsson, CTO and co-founder of Algeno.

Another advantage is that operations technicians and engineers can provide data-driven insights—rather than assumptions and generalizations—to support budgeting, maintenance, and investment decisions. This provides peace of mind for property owners, as they can be confident about the actual situation and measure the impact of the actions taken.

The Benefits of AI-Powered Heating Control - Algeno Insights

Don’t miss Algeno’s webinar on January 22 at 2:00 p.m. We’ll be discussing how AI-controlled heating systems are an effective way for property owners with large portfolios to minimize energy consumption. At the same time, it enhances comfort for tenants, who can enjoy a consistent temperature regardless of external conditions such as seasonal and temperature fluctuations. Additionally, maintenance technicians gain a smart tool for monitoring the system and taking the right actions efficiently.

We warmly welcome you!
