Agneta Kores Appointed to Algeno's Board of Directors

Agneta Kores is a new member of the board of Algeno AB. She brings extensive board expertise and experience gained from various board assignments over the past 20 years, as well as solid experience in the real estate industry, including serving as CEO of Stena Fastigheter in Gothenburg for eleven years and CEO of Familjebostäder Göteborg for eight years.

“I’ve always been interested in technological development. In that sense, it’s very exciting to be part of a company like Algeno. It’s a serious, competent team with immense potential. I hope I can contribute both my board experience and business expertise—as well as some technical expertise,” says Agneta Kores.

“Agneta Kores knows us well because Stena Fastigheter was one of our first clients and has played a major role in our development—from research projects at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre to Algeno’s application of AI-controlled heating systems in large property portfolios. “Her expertise and extensive network in the real estate industry will be a valuable asset for Algeno,” says Mats Jirstrand, Chairman of the Board and co-founder of Algeno.

Agneta Kores was CEO of Stena Fastigheter in Gothenburg when, following successful trials in the first half of 2022, the real estate company decided to move forward and roll out Algeno’s AI-based heating control solution across its entire portfolio of residential properties in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö in 2023.

“I’ve always been interested in technological development, and Algeno works with exciting technical solutions. As a property owner, you want to have control over your properties and manage them in the best possible way—financially, in terms of energy efficiency, and in terms of sustainability. District heating is a major expense for property companies, which is why this is particularly interesting,” says Agneta Kores.

She also sees that Algeno has significant potential for development in areas beyond heating. For example, cooling, ventilation, and electricity will also need to be managed proactively in the near future.

– A building can be viewed as a process industry, where everything runs smoothly and efficiently without the tenant even noticing. The indoor climate should be stable, with a consistent temperature, well-functioning systems, and good air quality—free from drafts or disturbances. As challenges in the electricity market grow, so does the need to optimize energy management in the building to ensure efficient operation.

There are several trends driving demand, beyond the technological advancements that make these changes possible. The sustainability perspective is a major driving force; the other is economics, with the ever-rising costs of district heating.

“With rising media costs, having the right expertise in energy management and digital control is becoming crucial for real estate companies. Through energy efficiency measures and smart control systems, costs can be optimized, the carbon footprint reduced, and long-term profitability ensured. To meet future demands, companies need to invest in smart control systems and improved data collection,” says Agneta Kores.
